2019 Tennis ELO Awards - Winners

The voting is over, and it's time to announce the winners! Find out who won this year's Tennis ELO awards after the jump.

Like last year, the polls took place on Twitter, and if you haven't done so already, follow @tennis_elo to be the 1st to hear of new blog posts and more.

Player of the Year - Men's
Nominees:
  • Felix Auger-Aliassime - For his performance at Miami.
  • Christian Garin - For his performance at Houston and Munich.
  • Lucas Pouille - For his performance at the Australian Open.
  • Dominic Thiem - For his performance at Indian Wells, the French Open and Vienna.
This year's biggest landslide saw Dominic Thiem take 82% of the vote and win my Men's Player of the Year award, in a season where he gained 99 ELO rating points. Well done! Last year's winner, Borna Coric, had a bad season though, losing 94 ELO rating points. Can Dominc avoid that fate?

Player of the Year - Women's

Nominees:
  • Bianca Andreescu - For her performance at Auckland, Indian Wells, Toronto and the US Open.
  • Ashleigh Barty - For her performance at Miami.
  • Danielle Collins - For her performance at the Australian Open.
  • Dayana Yastremska - For her performance at Hua Hin and Strasbourg.
Earning 57% of the vote, Bianca Andreescu is the Women's Player of the Year, winning a Grand Slam title and surging from nowhere in to the top 10. Congratulations! Last year's winner, Naomi Osaka, also had a good season, gaining 106 ELO rating points this season. Will Bianca keep up her top form next season?

Disappointment of the Year - Men's

Nominees:
  • David Goffin
  • John Isner
  • Daniil Medvedev
  • Alexander Zverev
Alexander Zverev is this year's "winner" of the Disappointment of the Year award in the closest of the 4 polls, after losing 73 ELO rating points. Last year's "winner" was Milos Raonic, who held steady this year. Can Alexander make a comeback?

Disappointment of the Year - Women's

Nominees:
  • Caroline Garcia
  • Julia Gorges
  • Simona Halep
  • Elina Svitolina
There was controversy about Simona Halep being nominated, but in the end, the "winner" was clear. Caroline Garcia "won" the Disappointment of the Year award with 53% of the vote, after a season where she lost 137 ELO rating points. Last year's "winner", Garbine Muguruza, didn't have a great season, but didn't have a disaster either. Is next season the one where Caroline returns to the top of the game?
