The Big Gainer of the week award this week goes to Victor Estrella Burgos. For he 3rd year in a row, he won the tournament in Quito and earned this award in the process for a 3rd time, by beating Ivo Karlovic, Thomaz Bellucci and Paolo Lorenzi among others. These wins gave Victor 60 ELO rating points, and he climbs 48 places in my rankings to #63.
The Upset player of the week this week is Dominic Thiem. He was the top seed at Sofia, but he lost his opening match, after receiving a bye to the 2nd round. This loss cost Dominic 16 ELO rating points, and he fell 2 places in my rankings to #20.
Other strong performers relative to their rankings are Benoit Paire, Steve Darcis, Nikoloz Basilashvili, Rajeev Ram and Kenny de Schepper
