2017 US Open Week 2 Predictions - Men's

The 2nd week of the US Open is starting up in a few hours time, so it's time for me to update the predictions I made last week, with some new predictions for the rest of the tournament.

• Of the 4 favourites for the title before the tournament, only 2 are still in. Alexander Zverev lost to Borna Coric in round 2, and Marin Cilic lost to Diego Schwartzman in round 3.
• Ernesto Escobedo had the easiest overall draw at the start of the tournament, but lost in the 1st round to Radu Albot. Dusan Lajovic, who had the toughest overall draw, lost as expected to Rafael Nadal in the 1st round.
• John-Patrick Smith had the easiest 1st round draw, but ended up losing to Thomas Fabbiano in round 1. The player who had the toughest 1st round draw, Ryan Harrison, lost his opening match as expected to Tomas Berdych.

But what about the future? Let's take a look at what the rest of the tournament looks like

• Roger Federer the favourite for the title, with a 35.71% chance of winning the whole thing, with Rafael Nadal 2nd at 28.95%. The 3rd most likely winner is Kevin Anderson with 5.8%, and 4th is Pablo Carreno Busta with 5.3%.
• Kevin Anderson and Pablo Carreno Busta have the easiest draw to the title relative to their ranking, as they're the 3rd and 4th most likely to win the title, but are the 6th and 7th highest ranked players in the tournament.
• On the other hand, Juan Martin del Potro has the toughest draw relative to his ranking. He is the 9th most likely winner, but is the 4th highest ranked player still in.
• As for the next match, Philipp Kohlschreiber has the toughest draw. He is the 15th most likely to advance, but is the 9th highest ranked player competing.
• The players with the easiest next match compared to their ranking right now are Kevin Anderson and Lucas Pouille. They are the 3rd and 7th most likely players to advance to the next round, while being the 6th and 10th highest ranked players remaining.
