2017 Wimbledon Week 2 Predictions - Women's

Right now, it's late on Middle Sunday, so it's time for me to update the predictions I made last week, with some new predictions for the rest of the tournament.

  • Of the 4 favourites for the title before the tournament, 2 of them are still in. Karolina Pliskova lost to Magdalena Rybarikova in round 2 and Petra Kvitova lost to Madison Brengle in round 2.
  • Whilst Jennifer Brady had the easiest overall draw, this didn't help her to victory, as she lost to Dominika Cibulkova in the 2nd round, after winning the easiest 1st round draw. Timea Babos and Anna Blinkova had the toughest draws and lost their opening matches to Carolina Wozniacki and Elena Vesnina respectively.
  • After receiving the toughest 1st round draw, Ashleigh Barty lost her match as expected to Elina Svitolina.
But what about the future? Let's take a look at what the rest of the tournament looks like
  • Caroline Wozniacki is now the favourite, and has a 15.68% chance of winning the title, Simona Halep is 2nd at 13.91%, Elina Svitolina is 3rd at 15.71%, and 4th is Svetlana Kuznetsova with 8.90%.
  • Svetlana Kuznetsova and Caroline Wozniacki have the easiest draws to the title relative to their ranking, as they're the 4th and 1st most likely players to win, but are the 6th and 3rd highest ranked players remaining.
  • Victoria Azaenka has the toughest draw relative to her ranking, as she is the 8th most likely winner, but is the 5th highest ranked player in the tournament.
  • As for the next match, Victoria Azarenka also has the toughest round 4 match, as she is the 12th most likely player to win their next match, but is the 5th highest ranked player.
  • The player with the easiest next match compared to their ranking is Magdalena Rybarikova. She's the 6th most likely player to win her next match, but is the 15th highest ranked player remaining.
