Women's ELO Rankings 12/10/2015

As the tennis players in the WTA Tour chase a place in the WTA Finals, and valuable points and money on offer, most of the top players were in Beijing, in the largest tournament held between the U.S. Open and the Finals.

The Big Gainer of the week award this week goes to Garbine Muguruza. She won the tournament in Beijing, beating Agnieszka Radwanska in the semi final and Timea Bacsinszky in the final. Her wins here gave Garbine 40 ELO rating points, which puts her at a new ranking of #5, 5 places higher than last week.

This week's Upset player of the week is Simona Halep. She lost in the 1st round as the 1st seed here to a qualifier, and lost 16 ELO rating points for that loss. She is still the ELO #2 despite the loss of points.

Other strong performers relative to their rankings are Ana Ivanovic, Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Mirjana Lucic-Baroni.

Now, the the full rankings. New players in my rankings are marked with "NEW" in the ± column.
