The Big Gainer of the week award this week goes to Marcos Baghdatis. Unseeded at Dubai, he defeated Victor Troicki, Roberto Bautista Agut among others to make it to the final, where he was defeated by the #2 seed Stan Wawrinka. Marcos gained 39 ELO rating points for making it to the final, which saw him gain 5 places in my rankings to #26.
This week's Upset player of the week award is awarded to our ELO #1 Novak Djokovic. When he won his 1st 2 matches at Dubai, it looked like he was going to win the title as he usually does, but then he lost to Feliciano Lopez in the quarter finals. This loss (combined with his 2 wins this week) cost Novak a total of 16 ELO rating points. He remains the ELO #1, as he is 120 points ahead of the #2 player Roger Federer.
Other strong performers relative to their rankings are Alexandr Dolgopolov, Taylor Fritz, Dusan Lajovic, Inigo Cervantes and Pablo Carreno Busta.
