2016 AO Men's Summary + ELO Rankings 01/02/2016

With the Australian Open finishing today, now's the best time to have a look back at how my predictions did. These predictions were solely based on an ELO rating system I have been using for just over a year now.

A noticeable improvement on last year, where I only got 70% correct. I'm happy with how my rankings are performing, let's see if they hold up for the French Open.

My Big Gainer of the (2) week(s) award goes to semi-finalist Milos Raonic. He was the 13th seed here but after defeating Stan Wawrinka, he was the one who took advantage of an opening (see below) to make it to the semi-finals, beating Gael Monfils before losing to Andy Murray. Milos' run gave him 32 ELO rating points, and he climbs 2 places in my rankings from #10 to #8.

The Upset player of the (2) week(s) goes to Rafael Nadal. He was the 5th seed here in Melbourne, but he lost in the 1st round to Fernando Verdasco. This loss cost Rafael 17 ELO rating points, but he stays ranked as the ELO #4.

Other strong performers relative to their rankings are Federico Delbonis, Dudi Sela, Andrey Kuznetsov, Lukas Rosol and Pierre-Hugues Herbert
