Men's ELO Rankings 14/01/2019

The Australian Open begins next week, and I shall have blog posts on a regular basis throughout the tournament, but until it begins, let's see what happened this week, in Sydney and Auckland.

This week's Player of the week is Tennys Sandgren. He won the title at Auckland, defeating Marco Cecchinato on his way to the final. These wins earned Tennys 55 ELO rating points, and he moves up 39 places in my rankings to #56.

This week's Upset player of the week is Chung Hyeon. Also at Auckland, he was the 6th seed, but lost his 1st round match to wild card Rubin Statham. This loss cost Hyeon 14 ELO rating points, and he loses 6 places in my rankings to #44.

Other strong performers relative to their rankings are Alex de Minaur, Andreas Seppi, Leonardo Mayer and Jordan Thompson.
