Men's ELO Rankings 12/01/2015

The 1st week of the 2015 season saw David Ferrer, Roger Federer and Stan Wawrinka win the 1st available titles of the season. Federer overtook Novak Djokovic to claim the #1 position following his tournament victory and a disappointing week from Djokovic, while Stan Wawrinka climbed up 3 places up to #3 this week. On any other week, I would give Chennai finalist Aljaz Bedene the Big Gainer award, which gave him a huge +117 increase in ranking from a below average ELO to an above average rating, but because my rantings still under-rate the top players slightly, I have no choice but to give it to David Ferrer, who performed excellently in Doha to climb 7 places to a ranking of #8. David Ferrer is this week's Big Gainer of the Week.

On the other side, there's an obvious candidate for Upset Player of the Week. It has to be Rafael Nadal. Losing to the qualifier Michael Berrer in the 1st round is unforgivable, and that loss has pushed him down 4 places to #7 this week.

Other strong performers relative to their rankings this week were the previously mentioned Aljaz Bedene, Andreas Seppi, Ivo Karlovic and Bernard Tomic.
