Men's ELO Rankings 12/08/2019

We're in the 1st of 2 weeks of large tournaments on the ATP Tour, so we begin with my update following the first of these, held in Montreal.

This week's Player of the week is Daniil Medvedev. The 8th seed at Montreal made it to the final of the tournament, by beating Dominic Thiem and Karen Khachanov before losing to the ELO #1 Rafael Nadal. This run earned Daniil 29 ELO rating points, and he moves up 1 place in my rankings to #9/

This week's Upset player of the week is Kei Nishikori. He was the 5th seed, but ended up losing his opening match against Richard Gasquet. This meant that Kei lost 15 ELO rating points, and he moves down 1 place in my rankings to #8.

Other strong performers relative to their rankings are Gael Monfils, Karen Khachanov and Hubert Hurkacz.
