- Of the 4 favourites for the title before the tournament, 2 of them are still in. Novak Djokovic lost to Taro Daniel in round 2, and Grigor Dimitrov lost to Fernando Verdasco in the same round.
- Whilst Bradley Klahn had the easiest overall draw (and the easiest 1st roudn according to my ratings), this didn't help him to victory, as he lost to Thomas Fabbiano in the 1st round. Jan-Lennard Struff, Leonardo Mayer and Cameron Norrie had the toughest overall draws and while Struff and Norrie lost in round 1, Leonardo Mayer's draw opened up ansd he's still in the tournament!
- Guido Pella had the toughest round 1 draw and lost as expected to Fernando Verdasco.
But what about the future? Let's take a look at what the rest of the tournament looks like
- Roger Federer now has a huge 61.08% chance of winning the title, Juan Martin del Potro is the 2nd favourite at 16.78%, Kevin Anderson is 3rd at 4.9%, and Milos Raonic 4th most likely with 4.82%.
- The easiest draw relative to their ranking goes to Borna Coric. He is the 9th most likely winner, wile being the 11th highest ranked player in the tournament.
- On the other hand, 5 players are tied as to the toughest draw. Jeremy Chardy, Chung Hyeon, Pablo Carreno Busta, Marcos Baghdatis and Leonardo Mayer are all 1 position less likely to win the title than expected.
- But it's Marcios Baghdatis that has the toughest 4th round match, he's the 13th most likely playet to make it to the quarter finals, but he's the 10th highest ranked player.
- The players with the easiest next match compared to their ranking are Taylor fritz and Borna Coric. They are the 10th and 7th most likely to make it to the quarter finals, while they are the 14th and 11th highest ranked players remaining.
