This week's Player of the week is Beatriz Haddad Maia. Unseeded at the tournament in Birmingham, she won the title there, defeating Petra Kvitova, Camila Giorgi and Simona Halep among others. These wins gave Beatriz 49 ELO rating points, and she climbs 14 places in my rankings to #33.
The Upset player of the week for this week is Garbine Muguruza. She was the 5th seed at Berlin, but lost in the 1st round to Andrea Petkovic. This loss cost Garbine 14 ELO rating points, and she falls 3 places in my rankings to #21.
Other strong performers relative to their rankings are Dayana Yastremska, Zhang Shuai and Katie Boulter.
